Planning a wedding on a budget can be a daunting task, but it doesn’t have to be. With a little bit of creativity and some careful planning, you can have a beautiful wedding without breaking the bank. As a wedding venue, we have some great tips to get you started!

  1. Set a budget and stick to it. Before you start planning, decide how much you can realistically afford to spend on your wedding. This will help you stay on track and avoid overspending.

  2. Consider other days. Fridays can often be less expensive! Sure, it’s a little different for guests, but most people are able to accommodate a Friday wedding, especially if it takes place in the evening.

  3. Cut the guest list. From the beginning, decide if you’re going to invite co-workers and kids with your soon-to-be spouse. This process can help to eliminate a lot of guests from the start, and establishes boundaries around the guest list.

  4. Prioritize. Figure out what is most important to you and focus your budget on those items. For example, if you want a beautiful dress, you may need to cut back on other areas such as decorations or food.

  5. Shop around. Don’t be afraid to comparison shop for the best deals. Many vendors are open to negotiation, and event planners can help you with this process.

  6. Go DIY. You can easily create your own centerpieces, invitations, and other decor. Take inspiration from wedding magazines or Pinterest! There are so many creative people out there who are sharing great ideas for beautiful DIY items.

  7. Cut down on florals. There are many ways to save money on your flowers. Choose what’s in season, ask your florist to choose budget buds, or if you’re providing the florals yourself, go wholesale. There are many wholesale companies; it might just take some calling around. Also, flowers aren’t totally necessary! You can use faux flowers for the bouquets and take a different approach to decor for the rest of the wedding.

  8. Limit your bar. Beer and wine only are acceptable options!

  9. Wedding cake. For the cake cutting and for display, use a small, decorated cake. For the rest of the cake service, purchase an inexpensive supermarket sheet cake, or have your decorated cake baker provide one. This is a great way to save hundreds of dollars.

  10. Skip the favors. Most people forget them anyway! They really add up in price and aren’t overly memorable.

  11. Check sale sites. Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, and other online sites often have used wedding decor for sale. Even if you don’t choose this option, you can use these sites to resell your items after your wedding!

  12. Think about rentals. Rentals are often more expensive than purchasing at a discount. Think about buying from a dollar store or Amazon in bulk. Again, if you don’t want to keep the items and reuse them afterwards, you can always sell them.

  13. Rethink the food. You can do something different! Many venues will allow for food trucks, restaurant catering options ,and more. Not only does this save money, it can be more fun and creative.

  14. Book few hours. You can book your photographer and/or videographer for fewer hours! Have a friend or family member take dance party photos – you don’t need the pros for those.

  15. Ask for help. Don’t be afraid to ask family and friends for help. They may be able to provide services or items for free or at a discounted rate.

By following these tips, you can have a beautiful wedding without breaking the bank. With a little bit of creativity and careful planning, you can have a wedding that is both memorable and affordable.
